“…all art is a gift from the gods, channeled through artists who are ‘out of their mind’…when making art.”

—Art & Fear: Observations On the Perils (and Rewards) of Artmaking By David Bayles and Ted Orland

Hi there! I'm Mackenzie Biadasz, also known as Mactown, a freelance artist currently based in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. My passion lies in capturing movement, depth, positive and negative space, and vibrant colors in my artwork. The people and community of Stevens Point heavily inspires my work. Moreover, my father plays a significant role in shaping my artistic journey, constantly encouraging me to trust my instincts and infuse my work with raw emotions.

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, alongside a minor in Art History at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. I've had the privilege of showcasing nine pieces at the Edna Carlsten Gallery over the course of my school career and I earned the Art and Art History Arts Bash Scholarship for Outstanding Work by a Sophomore for the academic year 2021-2022. Additionally, my artworks have been featured in several exhibitions throughout Wisconsin.

Post-graduation, my career aspirations revolve around establishing a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing art classes, supplies, and programs for low-income artists in Central Wisconsin. My goal is to foster an environment where each artist can flourish and to unite local artists of all ages. Furthermore, I am keen on delving deeper into the realm of public art, exploring avenues for creating and designing impactful installations within communities.

Learn More About My Art Process:

Since childhood, art has been my sanctuary in life's tumultuous landscape. Growing up amidst chaos both at home and at school, I found solace in isolating my emotions. It was my art teachers who recognized this silent struggle and extended their hearts and studios to me, offering salvation. Ever since, the studio has served as my refuge, where I can freely channel my raw emotions and seek guidance through various mediums, studying master artists, and engaging with mentors.

Each piece of artwork serves as a poignant reminder of the emotions I experienced during its creation. Collectively, my body of work traces a timeline of emotions, lessons, and personal growth that have shaped my journey thus far.

With each new creation, I delve deeper into the intricacies of the medium at hand, constantly learning and evolving. My repertoire spans a range of mediums, from wood and metal to charcoal, oil pastels and graphite, though I find myself most drawn to oil and acrylic paints. Striving for realism while also imbuing my compositions with depth is a central focus, often requiring meticulous planning to convey the intended message effectively.

My creative process often entails marathon sessions lasting up to 12 hours, driven by an impulse to complete each piece in one sitting. Should I lose focus or the emotional thread guiding my work, I'm not hesitant to start afresh, recognizing the importance of maintaining the integrity of the artistic process.

As I continue to evolve artistically, my aspiration remains to refine my technique and challenge the boundaries of 2D and 3D art. Through my work, I aim to forge connections with others who may resonate with similar emotions, fostering a sense of empathy and understanding in the shared human experience.
